Four in the morning seems like a good time to update ones blog doesn't it?
Just dropping a quick note to let everyone know what's been going on. I'm so sorry that I don't post here very often! I know this is how I keep up with some of you!
A lot has happened in the past month. In the beginning of June my coven-mates, a few close friends and I headed up to Lolo for the Love your Mother festival. The festival focused on living in balance with the earth, there were workshops, lectures and activities the entire time while working to encourage us all to live more sustainably. I'd never been to a gathering that had not only recycle bins, but composting bins as well. It was pretty neat. It was fun to be there, but the main reason we went was to do some vending with our business Twigs & Brews. There was some craziness in getting everything together, and so much work that had to be done, but in the end we pulled it off. There wasn't much of a profit to be made there, but it also rained for most of the weekend, and was miserably cold. Neither of these things really encouraged many people to spend too much time wandering around shopping, and the entire thing was outside. It certainly wasn't very good camping weather. At least being in Lolo left us with the hot-springs to go warm up in at the end of the day, and there were interesting people to meet, good food, and live music the entire time. It was definitely an interesting experience. I'd do it again, and am hoping for better weather next year.
A couple days after getting home from that event, I took off again, and went down to Denver on a road trip with my little sister to visit some family. It was very strange being down there without the rest of my immediate family with us, but it was really good to go. I hadn't been down in years and definitely needed to visit. It ended up working out well and I got to spend time with most of my cousins, my Aunt and Uncles and my Grandpa. I've been kind of out of touch with everyone down there due to work and such, it's been really good to reconnect. Not to mention how much fun it was to go on a road trip with my sister!
On top of getting to spend time with them I got the added bonus of getting to goto Idaho Springs with my Uncle Steve and Jeannette. If you ever get a chance to go you should. The hotsprings are actually underground in caves and there's an emphasis on the spiritual and healing there. Silence is actually requested by signs throughout the entire place in respect to others meditation. It is a total rebirth experience, being in those ancient pools. The place is sacred and I'm so grateful that I had the chance to go.
Once I got home from that I was back out on the road again, doing more camping, for OAO's mid-summer camping event. The weather was much friendlier for this one, and there was much less stress with a smaller group of people involved. The first night up we got to spend some time networking with Gwen and Shawn, a Priest and Priestess from Kalispell who we hadn't seen in awhile, unfortunately they didn't get to stay for the entire event. The next day the public came up and we set up a rather ramshackle-gypsy-esque camp. Our sites were away from all the others on the river, so we had our own little space all to ourselves. There was a crazy and wonderful amount of music that went on, with drummers, guitarists and cello players among our community members. Our friends Regan (High Priestess - the harpist!) and Alex plus their friend Kerry also stopped by for the festivities on a road trip from CA. Estha and Anju amazed us all with crazy dutch-oven campfire bread baking and other delicous foods, and there was ritual and all sorts of merry-making. All in all a very good time. Also, my dear friend AJ had his initiation to his neophytic year the day before the solstice, and I'm super happy to have him studying with us. I've felt like he's been such a part of my spiritual family for a couple years now, so this is very neat and exciting! I wish him the absolute best on his spiritual journey.
Busy busy!
While all of this was going on, Anju and I have also moved as well. So you can understand how full our plates have been. It's only now that our new place is starting to resemble a house instead of a box jungle (much to the cats' dismay). It's all very exciting, we have about twice the amount of space that we did, a back yard and permission to garden, and we even got to paint before we moved in. Now that we're getting to a place where we've got things mostly in the right spot I am so much less stressed out. It's amazing the effects our living space has on us.
The other major change I've been going through is that of becoming nocturnal, I now work graveyards instead of during the day. It's been an interesting switch, but a good one I think. I'm also spending time trying to motivate myself to start making art again, and catch up on a bunch of reading.
This year is going to be a real push I can tell, really it already has been, and we're not even halfway through! On top of everything else we have some absolutely crazy astrology going on (neptune, chiron and Jupiter alignments, 5 planets in retrograde this summer, yikes! Check out Mooncat's blog for awesome astrology updates.) I'm feeling extremely blessed by all the support, encouragement and guidance I have between my family, my friends and my coven. I've reached a point where spirituality is more and more becoming an overarching thread connecting all three of those groups, as varied and ecletic as they are. It really is an amazing thing. This integration is allowing me to feel much more grounded in my path, myself and my Priestesship.
I'll have to remind myself of that when things get busy and stressful (which of course they will). The universe has a funny way of putting us all in the right place, doesn't it?
I hope all is well, and that the astrology hasn't been hitting too hard!
Love, light and blessings!

Another Beltaine another year, and my goodness has it started off quickly!
This Beltaine was spent with my coven, a few community members, and I up sequestered away in a cabin up the Seeley-Swan valley in the woods. This is becoming a tradition for us, and one that I'm extremely grateful for. Time seems to slow up in that place, the woods are quiet, the water calming, the entire cabin a work of art. I spent the entire time feeling like I was staying inside a living tree. We spent the entire week in spiritual contemplation, living as if the realm of Malkuth was something we had managed to shed and leave behind.
We all dreamed dreams, fought inner battles and won, supported one another, wove webs, made art, baked bread, sang, had debates, danced, processed our insecurities, became spiritual family and ultimately, cleaned ourselves up from the past year to start all over again.
All hail the King of the May! All hail the Queen of the May!
We stayed up at the cabin through the weekened, a few days after Beltaine, and I took my third mark while we were there. My partner Anju was also initiated to her neophytic year, the day before Beltaine. And so we move forward!
Unfortunately, when we left the realm of Malkuth came crashing down upon us more quickly than we were ready for. Anju, AJ, our dog Kyrie and I were all in the same car on the way home, and we had the misfotune of hitting a deer. This was an unaviodable event. Everyone inside the car was fine, the deer of course, was not. We've prayed for it, and plan on leaving it's spirit offerings the next time we go that way. The synchronicity of this event was not lost on us.
Se here we are, returned from our little spiritual cocoon. Time has returned to it's normal pace, and there is work, family, friends and other things to keep up with. Anju and I are looking for both a new home and a new car. (We are extremely hopeful on both fronts.) O.A.O's year has turned and started again, we are getting used to our new and more prompt schedule, and gathering together new ideas and projects for what promises to be a very busy and productive year! I'm looking forward to it! (if anyone wants/needs a copy of our schedule please check O.A.O's myspace page or message me with any questions. We are starting a mailing list this year, let me know if you'd like to join!)
I hope that everyones' Beltaine was as wonderful as mine was, and that the blessings and vigor of spring are helping each of you on your own ways!
Love, light, and blessings!

Take Back the Night!
That's right, it happens once a year, it's usually freezing, and totally worth it!
Tonight is our annual take back the night! Get layered up against the cold, and come out to march against domestic violence and raise awareness! This is not an all female event, I encourage EVERYONE to stop by!
This year:
The healing circle for survivors is at 5 pm. on the third floor of the UC on Campus
The march starts at 6 pm. Meet at the Griz statue on the oval (on campus of course). This year we won't be screaming, but having a candle lit vigil instead. Help out and bring your own candle and/or signs!
After the march stop by Dauphine's for live music and speakers. Not to mention warm up coffee drinks and good company!
I, of course, will be there along with my lovely Anju and puppy in toe. Say hello and support a cause! If you don't live in Missoula, please find out about your own local Take back the night and support it!
DO SOMETHING PEOPLE! BE ACTIVE! RAISE AWARENESS!
It's good for your karma!
Peace out!

Boy, I am just on a role here. I have wonderful friends who keep giving me links and what not to help keep me informed for the upcoming election. ^_^ I appreciate it immensely. This one is from the lovely Beast I call Steph. *mwah!* Check it out!

It certainly doesn't improve my mood about the representatives of the G.O.P that's for sure, but definitely good to know. I'm still bummed that Hillary didn't make it, what can I say?
Other than that, things have been crazy busy with me. My birthday is coming up and I'll be out this Friday at the Dark Dreams dance. ^_^ If anyone wants to wish me well you can show up and buy me a drink! I'll hopefully be sporting new ink as well.
Peace out!

As usual this is also a call for business. If any of you lovelies are interested in commissioning me please send me a message here, a note in my DA account or an e-mail. I work starting from $15 and accept a variety of payment types. I do band designs, tattoo flash, chibi/ comic book style portraits, and whatever else you may want! ^_^
In other news things in my life have taken a turn for the better. I've just gotten a new job working at Mr. Tux downtown with a good friend of mine. (Working at Budget was a good job, I learned a lot and have many fond memories, but there comes a point where you have to move on, especially when you realize that there is no chance for change or progression.) This job supplies me with more ritual/sabbat and study friendly hours and is one that leaves me with a chance for raises and the lot. Not to mention that it has a heavy focus on sewing, which is something I haven't had a great deal of time to do lately. I feel as if I have rediscovered this skill in myself. XD
I also feel as if I've come to a financially stable point for the first time in my life. I would like to be able to say that I don't really care about money, but I'd be lying. Money is one of the number one causes of stress in my life, and I've let it rule me for a long time. Don't get me wrong, I'm still completely broke, but things are easing up a bit.
Also in the recent past I have: Watched the musical 1776 with my mom, dad and little sister, gone on a date with my girlfriend (yes a real date dinner, a movie and the whole lot!), gotten a lovely package of baked goods in the mail, and reconnected with old friends. On the menu for tonight: Lolo hotsprings with my second family.
I'd say that things are going quite well. It's times like these that make it easier to remember how truly blessed I am, and appreciate it every day. Nice not to get a rant for once huh?
Love, light, and blessings galore!
Peace Out!

Alright, so the song "one of the guys" is kind of cute, but anyone who can put the songs "I kissed a girl" and "Ur so gay" on the same album must be a complete idiot. To claim sexual liberation and open-mindedness and then use 5th grade schoolyard insults against a "feminine" man in the next breath is completely ridiculous. Katy Perry I call bullshit on you, that's for sure. I've gotta admit as a Bi-sexual woman I'd like to let you know that it's women like you, allowing yourself to be objectified and doing anything for attention and publicity that cause the world to think the rest of us must be sluts. On top of that, you're also helping along the "gay women are hot so that's o.k., but gay/feminine men are gross/bad" state of mind. >.<
And some people wonder why the gay community is offended.

Things are a bit crazy for me as of late, but generally going well going well. I'm very busy this week and really looking forward to having my Anju back in town. This coming week is going to be hectic, so I thought I'd post something quick while "coming up for some air" so to speak. There are just a couple quick things you guys should know.
1:If any of you are interested in having your birthchart done or are looking for some Astrological advice I highly recommend the wonderful and talented MoonCat! She did my birthchart for me last Tuesday and is absolutely amazing, her prices are very reasonable, and she's just generally a cool person on top of it all. Please check out her myspace, even if only to subscribe to her wonderful blog, in which she gives Astrological updates regularly. (It can be a huge help knowing what's going on up there!) ^_^
2As always I'm an artist open for commissions! I'm actually doing work at sale prices this month since I'm a little hard up for cash. My online Gallery can be found HERE. Black and white work starting at only $15. Help a girl out? Send me a message if interested.
3 I'll be out of town for the weekend doing ritual work and running my first ever workshop on Saturday (on Arithmancy). So no updates and such until late Sunday or early Monday probably. I'm making an effort to post here more often! ^^;;
So Until then: Happy Summer Solstice early!
Love, Light, Blessed Be and Peace Out!

Taurus by *DaturaDesign on deviantART
I decided that since I use all the rest of my blogs to shamelessly promote my artwork why not add this one in too? I know that I have several friends who are much more active here than on MySpace anyways. ^_^ The above is a contest entry for an EGL club on Deviantart. I haven't been doing many of these lately, but they were doing the Zodiac so I couldn't resist.
The other reason I have to post this here is my friend Anna. ^_^ Hopefully she won't be offended when I say that this Tauran lady is slightly based off of her, once again, I couldn't help it. She's a Taurus, she loves cows, and admittedly she does have rather nice breasts. So while this doesn't look much like Anna elsewhere I'm not the only one who's noticed the resemblance there. XD So I dedicate this piece to the lovely An-na-na, who I must admit I'm missing.
School hasn't even been out for that long.
Ps. I do have one other new piece up, if you want to see it click on the "DaturaDesign" link above. It's titled "A is for..." and features Joan.
Till later!

The King of May by *DaturaDesign on deviantART
Above is my May King, he was drawn and completed on Beltane this year. ^_^ If anyone is interested in getting a print of him, or viewing anymore of my Artwork please follow the links above to my online Gallery.
Other than that I just wanted to post a quick update on Beltane. This past week I was out of town with my coven, we were all blessed enough to get to spend time in Colin's families' cabin out in the woods. It was amazingly beautiful, and I've come back completely stress free and have been reminded why Montana is such a wonderful place to live. Our retreat was simply amazing and each of us came out of it with messages and signs.
Beltane itself was fairly small, there were only six of us total, but it went really well. We started with the May Pole, and ended with a feast that was in itself a masterpiece. (and a showing of the original Wicker Man that I only made it half way through.)
Friday was the day which concerned me the most, since I finished the final part of my end of year exam then. I have passed my first mark! I talk to you now as a Priestess of the Goddess, ordained through study, and I can't tell you how exited I am! It feels wonderful to leave behind my old life and start a new in service of the Gods and working for the betterment of the Human community!
I of course, still have a long way to go, and will always be a student, but earning my title has certainly been empowering for me. I must thank all of you, my friends for having been such a network of support for me throughout the year, as well as my Family both spiritual and by blood. Most importantly of all I'd like to express how deeply blessed I am to have Estha and Colin as my Priestess and Priest. Their knowledge and compassion overwhelm me and I could not ask for better teachers.
^_^ And thus I begin another year! Just wait, soon I'll have photos with hair again!
With love and light!

Is tonight! That's right, for all of you lovely Zoo- town people, you should head down to the court house at 7pm, and join me plus many others in our march against sexual violence! If you live on campus there's even going to be a march to the march, meeting at the grizzly at 6.
Be a part of a great thing! Do your part in taking a stand against violence and abuse! I expect to see both women and MEN come to this event! Gentlemen, come and show that you are a part of the solution as well! Last year a couple of the frats. showed up, which I thought was amazingly brave.
For everyone else: I urge you to find out where the march is going to be in your town! For help with this and more info please check out the official website:
Take Back the Night!
I hope to see you all there!

*** Update!!! ***
Speaking of doing some research. XD I've done some myself now that I've had a little bit of time, and thanks to the links posted by some friends, and finding an actual copy of the write up of the bill I am relieved to use the statement "I was wrong."
I wrote up a quick angry blog in response to a very small amount of information when I didn't have time to look into the matter further. The Orphaned Works Bill does in fact only affect works who's owner can not be found with a thourough and complete search. Just wanted to give you all an apology for my rant yesterday. x.x
For more information on the actual Orphaned Works Bill please read this wonderful blog by Meredith L. Patterson and check out the links she's provided.
Sorry if I got anyone all up in arms yesterday! I should have done a better job on my homework!
*whew!* I'm relieved!

The biggest WTF I've had in a good long time people. That's right, our lovely government has a bill in congress right now lovingly titled the "Orphan" art bill. What does it do? According to the people who proposed the thing it frees up art pieces to be used/ displayed in Libraries and Museums.
What the bill is hiding from you and I: it also F*cks US copyright laws into oblivion. That's right, chums like you and I will have to PAY a COMMERCIAL copyright agency to keep ourselves in business, because anyone could use our designs, film, photos, pieces, concepts, etc. without infringing on ANY law. Right now in the US something is generally considered copyright the artist the instant it's down on paper and signed, this bill takes away that protection from artists of all kinds.
What else is there to do? GET PISSED OFF PEOPLE! This is such a major infringement on creative rights that I'm still in complete shock that it even made it to congress. GET UPSET, DO SOME RESEARCH, and then it's time to GET LOUD! This bill is IN CONGRESS right now. We NEED to sign a million petitions, write to our representatives, get together and spread the word about this potential ATROCITY! We are the voices that will stop it!
For more info. on the bill itself and what we can do please, please, PLEASE visit the site: HERE
I'm not about to stand by and let this happen, and neither should any of you! Artists Unite!
x.x Aside from that, sorry that I haven't posted in so long. I may put in an actual update about my real life soon!
Till later
Peace Out!

It seems that the Greeks shouldn’t be building anything new, or so their ancestors say. In relation to the tomb found last week: This time they were building a subway in Thessaloniki and ended up unearthing 1,000 ancient graves. o.o Mind boggeling isn’t it? And we thought we’d dug up most of the archeological discoveries of the world already.
Apparently history is deeper then we thought and needs to be found NOW! XD
The artical is HERE

Just found an article HERE about this new discovery! ^_^ It is really new, so there's actually not much known about it, but:
It is the first real evidence that the Mycenaen people were present on the Greek island of Lefkada. The tomb was discovered by a bulldozer (x.x) during road construction, and is over 3,000 years old.
So I'm a complete nerd, but what can I say? I had to share: I'm exited!
Read on! ^_^

I just found out today about this terrible event that happened last month:
An openly gay 15 year old boy was MURDERED by one of his classmates. The offense that started the Violence? He asked the other boy to be his Valentine.
I'm sickened by this. We MUST stop promoting discrimination to the CHILDREN of the world! Let's all stand up for one another, get active in our communities, support the basic HUMAN RIGHTS of ALL people, and protest those who promote HATE! This IS an issue, though most people think that it's not. OBVIOUSLY this is an issue, when an admittance of AFFECTION from someone of the same gender is offense enough to justify MURDER in the mind of an 8th grader!
Something must be done. Please, Please, PLEASE start standing up for the gay community in even small ways. Something as simple as informing people that the phrase "That's so gay" IS offensive and DOES promote negative imagery of an enitre group of people would be a perfect place to start. Pay attention! Homophobia and hatred are CANCERS in our society today. WE are the ones who must teach children like this to STOP.
For more information on this topic and some things you can do to help please visit Ellen DeGeneres's website.
PEACE PEOPLE!

I know that some drivers in Missoula are quite nice, cautious, friendly, will even stop to let you cross the street, if you're on foot. I am no longer on foot however, and it only took me two days to have a near death experience.
Drivers everywhere! (especially in Missoula) I know how it is, I used to drive myself, bicyclists can be wholly annoying, especially if they're not where they're supposed to be. You can complain about it all you want, but not all of us are irresponsible. I, for example, ride in the bike lane, use hand signals for when I'm turning, and have lights and reflectors and everything on my bike. I obey traffic laws just like the CRV in the lane next to me. We have the right to use the roads as well people! So how is it, you might ask, that I came to wreck today?
Because someone just wasn't paying attention. I was in the left turn lane to turn into the parking lot of my work, I had stopped and was getting ready to turn after oncoming traffic had passed. It takes a little longer for a short person to get a bike going again, and someone in a red car (boy do I wish I had the license number) just pulled into the turn lane like I wasn't even there, clipped the back tire of my bike and sent me flying off the bike and over the divider and into the other side of the road (and oncoming traffic). I was amazingly lucky that I wasn't seriously injured or killed. I managed to pick myself and my bike up and get back up on the divider in the middle of the road before the traffic got to me.
I now have my entire left knee cut to pulp with gravel in it and my left forearm in a similar state. I still can't believe how lucky I am. (Mercury RX ended the day before yesterday right? Irony.) So aside from that and being completely shaken I'm just really pissed off.
The person in the car pulled out of the turn lane after sending me head over heels and drove away. Said nothing, didn't help me up, NOTHING. What on earth is happening to the human race?! They basically left me there to fend for myself instead of risk getting a ticket. I didn't end up hurt more, but that's STILL a hit and run. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. Do people have no conscious anymore?
I suppose that my online ranting really isn't going to do me personally any more good, I'm still hurt, and whoever it is that hit me still managed to avoid having any real serious consequence for it. For now, at least.
So I'll make the end of it short and sweet: Pay A-F-ING-TTENTION people! We really should be conscious in EVERYTHING that we do, because all of it affects others around us, when it comes to something as potentially dangerous as driving, others around you should be on the top of your list!
Please Please Please! Expand your consciousness, and for heavens sake, if you see someone in need of help, give it to them.
